Why 8 Arch Brewery is a Must-Visit for a Night Out in Wimborne

On a crisp spring evening in May 2025, I finally stepped into a local brewing legend — 8 Arch Brewery in Wimborne. Based in Stone Lane Industrial Estate, it’s a spot I’ve driven past countless times over my 20+ years as a resident, yet somehow never visited until now.

Having proudly crafted quality brews for 18 years, 8 Arch has become a serious contender on the craft beer UK scene, rivalling even bigger names like BrewDog. Yet despite its growing reputation, what makes 8 Arch special is its warm, community-driven atmosphere that’s unique to Wimborne.

A New Home with a Familiar Spirit

In 2024, 8 Arch Brewery moved from their original premises just down the road to their current location at Stone Lane Industrial Estate. The new space was designed to enhance the experience for their growing crowd. The upstairs area now has a cosy max capacity of 70 people, perfect for intimate live music and relaxed gatherings.

They’re open every Friday from 2 pm to 8 pm, and Saturdays from 12 pm to 8 pm — plenty of opportunities for locals and visitors to drop by for a pint of craft beer Dorset style.

The Story Behind 8 Arch Brewery

One of the highlights of my evening was chatting to Steve, one of the owners of 8 Arch Brewery. He shared how the brewery began as a small local project and grew into one of Dorset’s most respected independent breweries. The name “8 Arch” comes from Wimborne’s historic stone bridge, a nod to the town’s heritage and the brewery’s deep connection to its community roots.

Listening to Steve’s story really highlighted that this isn’t just another place to grab a drink. It’s about passion, craft, and creating a welcoming space where people feel part of something local and genuine.

The Welcoming Atmosphere

Downstairs, the vibe is equally inviting. Rustic wooden benches fill the space, perfect for groups sharing laughs and stories over a pint. The bar is small and cosy, which means you can chat directly with the friendly staff as they pour your drink. It’s casual, informal, and buzzing with genuine community spirit.

Whether you’re a seasoned craft beer fan or still figuring out the craft beer definition, the team are always happy to recommend something to suit your taste.

Food, Music, and Community

That night, the mouthwatering smells came courtesy of Holi Chow, a food vendor serving up flavour-packed dishes to pair with the brews. 8 Arch regularly rotates its food providers, which not only keeps the menu exciting but also supports other local businesses in Dorset.

Adding to the atmosphere was live music from Quinns Quinneys, a 10-piece Dorset skiffle band playing an energetic mix of originals and covers. The lively soundtrack had people tapping their feet, smiling, and chatting like old friends — the perfect recipe for a memorable night out.

Craft Beer with Character

Even though I’m more of a gin drinker, I couldn’t help but appreciate 8 Arch’s range of beers. Their flagship IPA, with its citrusy punch and refreshing bitterness, stood out as a crowd favourite. From hoppy IPAs to smooth lagers and rich stouts, there’s something for every palate.

For those after something different, the bar also stocks local spirits like Conker Raspberry Gin, ensuring no one is left out. It’s this mix of quality and inclusivity that makes 8 Arch shine in the craft beer market.
